Reva Stewart was a longtime member, healer, healing circle facilitator, and teacher of our Spiritual & Psychic Development classes each month. We share this page as a small testament to all Reva brought to the Metaphysical Chapel of Life community.

Reva's Chapel Lecturer Bio
Reva Stewart was a traveler on the metaphysical path for many years. She became an ordained minister of the Church of Wisdom in 1997. Reva had a passion for healing and studied numerous healing modalities, which included hypnosis, Healing Touch, RoHun and others, and studied various spiritual practices. Expansion in consciousness, wisdom and knowledge were as a lifelong quest.
Reva attended and supported the Chapel since the early 1990s and became a member in 2009. She served in various positions on the board, including board president, and most recently facilitated our Healing Circles and Spiritual and Psychic Development classes, meaning she was facilitating at least one event almost every week for many years. She was a participant and leader in various other classes at the Chapel, as well as with other local Churches and organizations.
Reva retired as a successful businesswoman who applied the spiritual and metaphysical principles she learned to help guide her to success.

Reva Vivelene Stewart, 73, an ageless spirit, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026.
Reva was predeceased by her mother, Reva H. Stewart; father, Elliott Stewart; and her three sisters. She is survived by her brothers, Chester Stewart and Elliott Stewart; niece Crystal Ford and her husband, Rudolph; nephews Julius Claytor, Christopher Brown, and Elliott Stewart, Jr.; special cousin Carolyn Y. Clayborne; and friend Regina Ann Jones and her family.
Regina and her family were special, dedicated friends Reva could rely on. Regina made sure Reva attended her medical appointments and church events, often driving from Richmond to Newport News on Sunday mornings. When Reva entered the hospital in early July, Regina was often by Reva’s side, advocating for her medical care.
We extend our sincere gratitude for all the acts of kindness shown to Reva during her illness and hospitalization. The prayers, cards, phone calls, and words of encouragement meant so much to her.

Her studies with the Graham Institute of Self Awareness and the GISA healing sanctuary led her to Delphi University, where she became an ordained minister of the Church of Wisdom in 1997. Reva had a passion for healing and studied numerous healing modalities, including hypnosis, Healing Touch, Ro-Hun, Shamanism, and many other spiritual practices. Expansion in consciousness, wisdom, and knowledge was a lifelong quest.
Reva attended and supported the Metaphysical Chapel of Life since the early 1990s and became a member in 2009. She served in various board positions, including board president, and most recently facilitated the Chapel's Healing Circles and the Spiritual and Psychic Development classes, meaning she facilitated at least one event almost every week for many years. She participated in and led various other classes at the Chapel, as well as with other local Churches and organizations.
Reva retired as a successful businesswoman who applied the spiritual and metaphysical principles she learned to help guide her to success. Locally, she will be remembered as a Vice President of Crestar Bank/SunTrust Bank located in what is now the City Center area of Newport News. Her career led her away from the Newport News area to Baltimore, Maryland, then to Richmond, Virginia.
Her family and friends extend their sincere gratitude for all the acts of kindness shown to Reva during her illness and hospitalization. The prayers, cards, phone calls, and words of encouragement meant so much to her.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel.

Reva will be remembered as a leader, teacher, and friend; more importantly, for her love, compassion, and infectious smile.

I didn't know Riva very long, but felt an immediate connection to her. Being a newcomer to the Chapel was a little nervewrecking for me initially because I have never found a place of worship that felt like home. She welcomed me with open arms and more than matched my own hugging spirit. It was such a gift to sit with her and speak openly about the gifts I always knew I had but was always afriad to share with others. I was so honored and blessed getting to know Reva. She was an awesome person, an inspiration. She had a quiet strength I loved her smile and her little special giggle, and the big hugs she would give me.
