Awakening Your Power Animal: An Introductory Shamanic Journey Experience

The idea of a “power animal” comes from shamanic traditions, where animals are understood as symbolic or spiritual allies that can offer guidance, protection, insight, and support. In shamanic practice, people often enter a relaxed, focused, or meditative state of awareness to explore their inner world and connect with these kinds of symbolic guides.

In this experiential class, Sue Jarek and Elizabeth Rodriguez will gently introduce the concept of power animals and the basics of shamanic-style journeying in a beginner-friendly way.

Participants will be guided step-by-step through a simple, accessible journey experience designed to help them explore the possibility of meeting a personal power animal. No prior experience with meditation, journeying, or spiritual practices is required.

After the journey, we’ll take time to reflect on the experience, explore the qualities or symbolism of any animal that appeared, and discuss what it might represent on a personal level.

The evening will include teaching, guided practice, reflection, and optional group sharing in a supportive environment.

About Tonight's Facilitators

Sue Jarek is the creator of SourceLine, her original body of work centered on direct, presence-based insight. Through SourceLine, she helps people move beyond the surface story to recognize the deeper patterns shaping their lives, fostering greater clarity, self-understanding, and the embodiment of their untapped potential.

Her work reflects a longstanding exploration of consciousness, intuition, and personal transformation, along with a passion for creating opportunities for people to deepen their understanding of themselves through direct experience.

Sue is also the founder of Empowerment Exchange, a community dedicated to learning, practice, and personal growth, and co-host of Living With Presence, an online series exploring consciousness, intuition, and the art of living with greater presence.

Her background includes training as a Reiki Master, Advanced Meridian Energetics® Practitioner, Certified Medical Intuitive, Shamanic Practitioner, and Chapel Spiritual Healer. These experiences continue to inform her work while supporting the practical, experiential approach she brings to teaching today.

Through classes, guided experiential exercises, and thoughtful discussion, Sue creates opportunities for participants to explore their own awareness, strengthen their intuition, and discover practical insights they can integrate into everyday life.

Elizabeth Rodriguez has been a member of the chapel since July of 2007. She has served as a presider, as part of the hospitality committee, supports the pre-Sunday Services healing ministry, and currently serves as the President of our Board of Directors.

Elizabeth came to the United States from England when she was 20 yrs old. Her husband at the time was Air Force. They lived in Brooklyn, New York, North Carolina, and Georgia, before going overseas to Germany, and traveled extensively. She then moved to Virginia in 1992 after divorce. She has three amazing girls, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is a pet sitter & currently has 12 cats. Elizabeth's life partner takes care of them when she is doing one of the things she loves to do: travel.

Elizabeth enjoys being around like minded people, and has studied under Loretta Klecz & Rev. Jenny Seeley for Psychic Development & Healing, and Nan Keenan & Laurie Seeley for Shamanic Practitioner training. She looks forward to continuing to learn different spiritual modalities. ​

About Spiritual & Psychic Development

Humans are intuitive beings receiving information from a sea of energy around us. Some are more aware of this energy than others. Students are helped to develop and trust their own intuitive, psychic and spiritual gifts. The class is for beginners and those wishing to deepen their connection with spirit.

This is a practical class for those who desire to enhance their abilities in all areas of their life. Participants are taught through a variety of methods, to include book study, personal experiences of teachers and students, experiential exercises, stream of consciousness writing, numerology, meditation, visualization, intellect, etc. Participants are encouraged to trust their impressions and feelings.

This class has been facilitated twice per month for several years by Reva Stewart, who is currently unable to facilitate. We appreciate Sue Jarek stepping up to coordinate and facilitate the ongoing classes, and the co-facilitators who've volunteered to assist in her absence.
