Beth Yates reflects on what first drew each of us through the chapel door, and on Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken" as a picture of the paths that led us here. Rev. Stanley Maszczak opens with a story about inherited habits, then turns to the encounter between Jesus and the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15. He asks how we can tell social conditioning from the voice of Spirit, and how we can stay open to being taught by the very people we were conditioned to ignore. Rev. Trish Glaab explores "Being Called," the idea that a calling is often a series of gentle nudges rather than one dramatic event, and offers a practice for flowing with your path instead of swimming against it. Rev. Sharon Flynn explores embracing as a heart-to-heart act, the opening of our spiritual centers, a vision that changed the course of her life, and a meditation on receiving and radiating light. Rev. Bill Whitley shares his own definition of spiritual evolution as the movement from religious exclusion to spiritual inclusion, drawing on his Methodist upbringing in the Jim Crow South and on the civil rights, hippie, and LGBT movements. Together they offer a community portrait of what it looks like to grow, change, and welcome one another along the way. His books include Read the Bible Like a Mystic, The New Big Book of Christian Mysticism, Eternal Heart, and Unteachable Lessons. He is one of the co-hosts of the Encountering Silence and Radical Mystics podcasts, and writes the Anamchara newsletter on Substack. Skye’s approach to the mystical path is joyful, inclusive and expansive; with a dedication to exploring the common ground between faith traditions, with a particular interest in the connecting points between Christian, Buddhist and Pagan wisdom. Skye lives with his wife, artist Fran McColman, in Atlanta. This will be Skye’s third visit to the Metaphysical Chapel of Life! In the past, he was known by his given name of Carl. Since his last visit, he received guidance to begin using a new name, Skye, reflecting Buddhist and Celtic Wisdom as well as the beauty of nonbinary gender.

A former certified nursing assistant and emergency medical technician, she earned her B.S. in Community Health Education and served as a certified domestic violence counselor for over 30 years. In 1991, she co-founded a Native American nonprofit, first serving as Clan Mother and later as Principal Chief. Alongside her leadership, she deepened her spiritual practice, becoming a Reiki Master and Animal Reiki practitioner. In 2013, she opened Nenaa Wellness Center, offering Reiki healing, angel therapy, and spiritual counseling. Since moving to Virginia in 2022, Winterflower has continued her spiritual journey and now serves as a psychic reader for the Chapel, offering angel oracle readings at psychic fairs and on Zoom. When not serving others, she enjoys writing fiction and poetry, volunteering, and hugging trees.
