Spring (Vernal) Equinox: In-Person Event + Audio Meditation Download

Happy Spring Equinox! If you're local to the Chapel, we hope you'll join Rev. Sharon Flynn and our Chapel community at 6:45 P.M. tonight, as she facilitates our Spring Equinox Interactive Service (tap/click for details).

If you're not local to the Chapel or can't make it tonight, I invite you to set aside 30-45 mins of quiet time and space some time this weekend, to experience the guided meditation I recorded for you below, or just engage in some thoughtful reflection around this moment of natural balance we're in now... and what you're planting for the future.

The Spring Equinox is the day where there is equal time between day and night — light and dark. There are many ways to enage with this time, focused on the earth, or the stars, the new moon we had yesterday, the seasons... It can be an invitation to consider how we're engaging with life in balanced ways, or how we understand and honor both light and dark. We can also consider what seeds we wish to plant now, as the winter shifts into spring, and as the spring begins its walk down the brighter and brighter path toward summer and harvest seasons...

How do we honor the light and the dark? What new beginnings are ready to emerge?

Audio Meditation

If you decide to use the audio meditation, I invite you to grab and have within arm's reach, if possible...

  • a journal (or something to write on) (I'll include a few journaling questions below, for after the meditation)

  • a pen / pencil or two (or something to write with)

  • a glass of water / something hydrating to drink as you come out of the meditation

I facilitated a version of this meditation this morning during sunrise meditation, and intended to simply record and upload... but forgot to press 'record'... so... I re-recorded it for you. May it bless you on your journey today.

Journaling Questions (if they're helpful... or just start writing when the meditation completes...)

  1. “The seed I planted in today’s meditation is…"

    1. How does this intention feel in my body, mind, and spirit right now?

    2. What small signs of it already exist in my life?

  2. Where in my life am I currently being invited into greater balance between

    1. light and dark,

    2. activity and rest,

    3. giving and receiving,

    4. clarity, joy, awakening, and rest, mystery, gestation...

  3. What does my spring intention need from me over the next 1–3 months, in order for it to be nourished, honored, supported?

  4. If I imagine returning to my inner spring garden at the summer solstice (in June), what would I love to discover has grown from this seed – in me, in my relationships, and in my service to the world?

    1. What about later, in August, or September?
